Come and listen to how a panel of three academics transitioned into lecturing roles in varied areas.

For anyone interested in making the transition to becoming a lecturer come and hear how three academics successfully made the transition. Each panellist will give a brief overview of their career journey (approx. 10 min each) followed by a Q & A session (20 – 30 min approx.).

Speakers:

Dr. Freya Gowrley – Lecturer in History of Art and Liberal Arts, University of Bristol

Dr. Rwayda Al-Hamad – Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Abertay University

Dr. Alexis Cartwright – Taylor – Assistant Professor in Geomechanics, Global Research Institutes, Heriot Watt University

This online event will take place on Wednesday 27th March 2024 at 17:30 – 18:30.

Please note that this session will not be recorded.

The panel session and following Q & A is a great way to learn more about career progression in an academic setting. What are effective strategies for progressing your career? What are the potential obstacles? You will also have the opportunity to ask those questions that matter the most to you.
