Edinburgh Career Development Scheme (ECDS)

ECDS has three main streams. The specific fellowships offered under this scheme reflect the diverse needs and contexts across our three academic Colleges and potential applicants should visit the College webpages for further details.

Career Launch postdoctoral fellowships

These fellowships aim to bridge the challenging transition from PhD to externally funded postdoctoral fellowships or equivalent. They are aimed at promising applicants who have completed a PhD but are not yet in an open-ended research role/have not yet been awarded a major postdoctoral fellowship.

Diversity Fellowships

These fellowships are designed to target under-represented groups and are aimed at applicants who have completed a PhD but are not yet in an open-ended research role/have not yet been awarded a major postdoctoral fellowship.

Innovation Fellowships

These fellowships will be coordinated by Edinburgh Innovations and are designed to enable recently completed PhDs to exploit commercialisation potential from their research.
